Importance of SBS in printing and packaging

SBS is one of the highly sought-after materials for printing & packaging. In fact, it is turning into an integral part of printing & packaging process due to the level of quality it offers to uplift quality production. But before we proceed any further, it is important to clear first what is SBS, because it is not a very common term for novices.

SBS is stand for Solid Bleached Sulfate. It is a premium paperboard grade which holds the label of being the most expensive paper board substrate at present. It is produced from 80% bleached virgin wood pulp with highest quality coating to improve its printing surface. The best feature of these boards is that they can prevent moisture penetration and keep content safe from damp, providing high-end packaging for moist sensitive content. Next, it can be easily creased, cut, hot foil stamped and embossed to create an ideal pack for any type of product.

Another prominent feature that makes it vital for printing & packaging industry is its perfect printing surface. It has good printing properties for graphics as it is white from both inside and out. Anything printed on its surface appears sharp and enhanced. So no matter if it is graphical image or text, SBS is a perfect material for quality printing.

SBS is also hygienic and pure without any odor and taste. Hence, it is highly preferred for aroma and flavor sensitive products such as cigarettes, chocolate and cosmetics. Some of its other application areas include pharmaceutical packaging and frozen food packaging, health and beauty packaging, wedding card, book cover, etc. Without SBS it was really tough to achieve the quality of packaging it offers for the above mentioned products.
